Quality Play. Early Learning sessions & School Readiness

Catered for all

Across our seven centres we run quality play and early learning sessions catering for a wide range of parents and carers, grandparents and childminders. Our centre activities provide an opportunity to meet new people and to enjoy play activities in a safe, informal and friendly atmosphere.

Our sessions are designed to support children’s development and children’s transition to the Early Years Foundation Stage when they start pre-school, nursery, or Reception class.

These sessions include:

  • Baby Groups
  • Stay & Play
  • Big Hopes, Big Futures
  • Sticky fingers, creative story telling etc

Baby Groups

Our sessions are for anyone caring for a new born up to baby turns one.  During the sessions we role model lots of fun baby play stimulating sounds and ask an expert sessions.  Parents are able to access support services and  be signposted in areas of need such as postnatal depression, bonding, infant nutrition and health.

Our baby groups are designed to encourage bonding & play. We create a welcoming environment with big floor cushions, washable rugs with play mats and baby toys to stimulate the age group.

Stay & Play

Our stay and plays are a welcoming environment with plenty of activities to stimulate the full age range of children who attend. They are a great place for parents and carers to gradually introduce their children to a social environment where they can learn with other children and gain more confidence. It allows for parents to take part in different activities with their children which helps parents and carers to understand how their children learn and what their interests are.

Parents and carers also have the opportunity to socialise with and support one another. We provide activities in the session that reflect the diversity and ethnicity of families that attend, can help them to feel welcome and provide rich learning experiences for their children.

Our sessions role model lots of play that parents can do at home and help children to develop early positive play and sharing habits with their peers.

      Big Hopes Big Future

Getting your child ready for starting Pre-School and School

Big Hopes Big Future is a Pre-School/School Readiness Early Learning Programme, with weekly sessions planned around the needs of you and your child.

      Benefits for your Child

Structured play and activities offer your child the opportunity to interact with others, whilst making a start on early learning goals. Sessions are planned around the needs of your child, helping them to reach their own milestones, including establishing routines, potty training and dressing independently, in addition to supporting early literacy and numeracy development.

      Benefits for Parents

Alongside the social interaction and support you will receive, we will give you a variety of opportunities to interact with your child, with many activities that can be repeated at home.  Your child will also learn some independence and social skills and begin to move away from you whilst interacting with other children and adults.  All of this will go towards supporting your child to be ready to start pre-school and school.

      Parent & Child Bonding

You will need to attend the session with your child, giving you the opportunity to interact in stimulating activities together.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Families have continued to be supported virtually via Home-Packs containing lots of ideas on how to engage with their children’s early learning whist self-isolating.

The sessions are free and suitable for children from 2 years upwards and will continue to run at Glyndon Community Centre on a Thursday from (10.30-12.00) once we are out of the restricted movement phase.
